Get to Know Dr. Alexander Shau
Originally from Palo Alto, CA, Dr. Alexander Shau has been working in the dental field for a decade and counting. It was during his second year of college that he decided he wanted to become a dentist, as it combined his passions for science and artistry while allowing him the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of others. His favorite part of the job is being able to help children and educate them on how to take care of their teeth. Getting to see them smile confidently when they leave is a reward in itself. Read on to learn a little more about his education and life outside of the practice!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Shau received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), graduating Magna Cum Laude and with Dean's Honors List distinctions. He pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the prestigious UCLA School of Dentistry. There, he was bestowed with numerous honors, including the UCLA Section of Pediatric Dentistry Award for excellence in the specialty. He completed his residency training in Pediatric Dentistry at St. Barnabas Hospital of Bronx, NY, and previously served as a clinical assistant professor for the UT Health Houston School of Dentistry. Dr. Shau is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
When away from the office, Dr. Shau enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, watching NBA basketball, and watching movies. One fun fact about him is that he even knows how to skateboard, snowboard, and ride a BMX bike!
